About Hockey Den
Every collector has that passion to add an amazing new piece or pull that incredible one of a kind card. Hockey Den captures that passion. Hockey Den provides collectors, hobbyists, and fans with previews, reviews, and news from around the hockey card and memoribilia world. It also provides the community with a place to stay connected, share stories, and provide valuable feedback.
Hockey Den is not a retail website. We do not sell anything on this site. We do however highlight quality organizations that contribute to the success of the hobby.
We will constantly be updating and upgrading the site to provide the best possible experience. We want this site to be driven by the community. Let us know what you would like to see in the future.
Hockey Den is run and maintained by Scott Hicks and Shawn Gates. Have a look below for more information.
Scott Hicks
My name is Scott Hicks and when I am not managing a web development firm in Toronto or spending time with my wife and two kids, I am spending time building my collection. I have been collecting hockey cards and memoribilia for years. I have built up quite a collection and have met some of hockeys best including Martin Brodeur, Ray Bourque, Alexander Ovechkin, Mike Modano and many more. Some of my favourite memoribilia pieces would be my Wayne Gretzky autographed pic and cereal box that is beautifuly framed(received as gift), an Alexander Ovechkin number and first game photo (both signed), a Ray Borque autographed Avalanche jersey, and my Martin Brodeur autographed Team Canada jersey. There are a lot more that hold a special place in my heart (Sidney Crosby autographed Oceanic pic, Malkin record breaking autographed photo with piece of net).
Shawn Gates
A born and bred small-town Maritimer now fighting for survival in Toronto! Completing my PhD in Clinical Psychology, running therapy sessions, and doing research by day, escaping to the world of sports memorabilia by night. I've been a collector since I was a kid, focusing mainly on hockey. I collect for the fun, not the money, and find it a great way to have a different connection to the game I love. Much like the game itself has become inaccessible to the common Joe over the years, so has hockey collecting, and my humble goal is to do what I can to help make the hobby more accessible to kids and adults alike who don't have tons of cash to spend on it. My wife and daughter tolerate (although do not completely understand) and humor me with regards to my love of the hobby and the goals that have come along with it!!
We look forward to the future of Hockey Den and thank you for visiting.
