2010-11 Upper Deck Series 1

Upper Deck posted some pictures and information on the upcoming 2010-11 Series 1 and I have to admit I’m not as excited as I was last year.  Why do I say this?  Because Series 1 is always driven off the strength of the rookie crop and this year does not even come close in my mind to the crop of rookies in last years edition.  I will hold out until I see the checklist and see just who is in Series 1 before I spend my hard earned money.

Take a look for yourself at some of the details below of what you can expect to see this year.

I am not sold either… I will reserve final judgement until I pick up my first few packs though…

There is something about the YGs that I just don’t like…cannot put my finger on it…

I like the Clear Cut Champions inserts…much like the sets that Topps/OPC did in the early 2000′s of Stanley Cup Champs (which I am always on the lookout for).

Jersey swatch looks a little small, perhaps its just the sample version?

Looking forward to dropping the puck on the 2010-11 season!

I like the idea of the Young Gun rookies but now with so many different product releases, I think it has completely watered down the importance of them. I just think Series 1 lives and dies by the strength of the rookie crop.

I agree with you though. I will wait and see on this years release.

didnt realise you guys were back up! Yeah, this is the least excited I have been for a series one, dont particularly like the design this year, and I dont know too much about the rooks this year.

Yeah more of a soft launch for the summer. I am flying solo now so will be trying to post at least three times a week once the season starts. Still hoping to do some contests and box breaks, but will probably just post the top three pulls or something.

I could not agree more in terms of the design and the rookies this year. That is another reason why I am glad to see Panini in the mix. Seeing some new and fresh designs will be nice.

As far as rookies go I guess it remains to be seen but hard to follow up a year like last year.

will panini do sticker albums too?

    What happened to shawn?
