I have been a long time fan of Tavares. I saw him play when he was in Oshawa and I have several really nice autographed pieces. My collection of Tavares cards is gorwing as well, so I was a little confused when I starting seeing autographed cards of Tavares with the number “19″ on them. Now the only time I know he has worn number 19 was during the Canadian Juniors. Other than that it has been number 91 or number 61 when he played with the Knights.
I find it strange because anytime I have played hockey I have been number 10. Now there are not usually a lot of fans in the stands waiting for my autograph after a rec league game, but I would assume that I would not forget or accidently sign another number other than number 10, so I am a little confused.
I went so far as to post a message on the Upper Deck Facebook page, but it went unanswered. Take a look below and see for yourself. The first batch are with number 19 and the next batch is with 91 (some from my personal collection).
If you have any insight into how this happened, I’m all ears.
